Marvel Cars Tours - Frequently Asked Questions

Reservation Process

How long before an event must I make the reservation? You should contact us and make a deposit as soon as you decide upon the date of your event.

Can I reserve a tour at the last minute? Last minute reservations are handled at the discretion of Marvel Cars. We MUST be able to contact your insurance agent to confirm your adequate insurance coverage. This may be difficult if the Tour date falls on a weekend.

Can I change the date of my event? With 72 hours notice you are able to reschedule your event. There is a $50 fee for this service.

The Tour

Do we get to drive all of the cars listed or all the cars that are on our tour? You will drive four of the vehicles in our fleet. Our intended and primary list of vehicles is the Porsche 911, the Corvette, the Porsche Boxster and the Lotus. If we need to substitute a vehicle we will do so with an comparable vehicle. We may add vehicles according to the size of the group. The route is marked with driver and car change points where you switch over so you get to drive four vehicles over the course of the day.

Will I be allowed to really "get on it" when I drive the cars? Our tours are designed for the enthusiast that wants to savor the elegance and raw power of the cars. The tours are not designed for drag racing or other excessive forms of driving. To that end, our routes are carefully chosen to allow drivers to enjoy the full spectrum of features each car has. The drivers will get to experience the power of each vehicle and the routes allow for moments of hard acceleration.

What if the car "blows up" while I have it? We only have late model, immacuately maintained cars in our fleet. It is rare for one to break down, although it can happen. You are responsible for items damaged while in your care and custody, unless it obvious that there was a factory defect. Of particular instance are the clutches in many of the cars. They can be burned up VERY QUICKLY if abused, and can easily cost $10,000, which would be the driver’s responsibility. Ask your Tour Director if you are uncomfortable with the controls of the car, you have a duty to understand them. Simply turning off the traction control (or other electronic system), or setting other combinations of controls in the wrong manner can allow massive damage, including over revving or many other problems, and can also cause accidents.

What if we have never driven a specific vehicle previously? Not a problem. Prior to a tour commencing we will take the time to brief each participant regarding the specifics of each automobile. The "briefing" will cover vehicle operation and necessary information about the routes. Every driver will be required to sign a disclaimer before driving and will agree to follow the Tour rules.

Can you create a custom itinerary for our group? Absolutely! There are numerous ways our Tour Directors can customize a package to fit a group or corporate event. Just call us at (425) 572-6211 from the Seattle area or toll free (877) 803 3001 for information.

What happens if we get lost? Don’t worry! We provide detailed maps and exchange cell numbers at the start of the day. GPS units with the route pre-programmed are provided as well!

Do we get a stop for lunch? Yes, we provide refreshments and snacks along the way. Lunch is always at a great restaurant.

Are there any additional fees? No! We don’t do hidden fees, the price you see is the price you pay plus Washington State rental car sales tax.

Are the cars difficult to drive? Each car will be covered at the briefing. Some of the vehicles have a stick shift or manual gearbox and require experience. If you have not driven with a manual transmission before we recommend that you practice prior to the event with another car. All the other cars have an "automatic mode".

What is the dress code? Marvel Cars Tours courses are chosen for their atmosphere. We request that each participant be dressed accordingly. Sport casual is ideal. The pedals on some of the cars are close together so sport shoes are a good choice. Please be careful not to wear a belt or pants with metal decorations, as they will damage the seat leather. No safety equipment is required.

Can I bring my wife or guest with me? Yes, you can. If you would like to share the tour experience and you both want to drive, please purchase a second tour ticket - the second ticket comes with a discount! You will share a fantastic driving experience. If you would like to have your guest as your passenger during your tour, we can offer you a guest ticket. Instead of your being paired with another paying tour participant, guest tickets guarantee that your guest will occupy the passenger seat during your drive time. Of course, guests may not drive the vehicles. A guest ticket is around 35% off of the full tour price and a great way to share the fun. Guest tickets are limited to one per paying tour participant because most of these cars only hold two passengers.

Why a Tour Director? The Tour Director plays an important role in organizing the rally and educating the drivers regarding the vehicles.

What type of vehicle does the Tour Director drive? The Tour Director’s vehicle will be a sedan or SUV so that it can accommodate additional participants and tour gear.

What if I am uncomfortable with my assigned partner or feel that there are unsafe driving practices? In the event that you feel uncomfortable with another participant please inform the Tour Director of your concerns. We will make a reasonable effort to accommodate requests. Any person engaging in activity the Tour Director feels to be unsafe and dangerous will forfeit their right to drive at our discretion with no refund.

Why 20 to 30 minutes per vehicle and not a guaranteed 30 minutes? Our courses have been carefully selected to maximize the level of enjoyment. However, our customers have different driving styles and expectations. There can be no deviation or detour from the rally map at any time. It will take some of our drivers a little longer to get to the car change points. Be patient and expect drive times to vary.

During the Tour

What happens if not enough people book a specific date? In the unlikely event fewer than 4 people sign up for a tour we will notify you 7 days prior to the event date. If this happens, we will reschedule the tour at a date that is convenient for you.

What should I do in the event of vehicle failure? Although our vehicles are in like new condition and perfectly maintained, even new cars can breakdown. If this should occur, contact our Tour Director immediately. Do not attempt any repairs to the vehicle. We reserve the right to increase the drive time of other vehicles in the event of mechanical failure.

What happens if I’m stopped by the police? They’ll ask for an insurance card and proof of ownership, won’t they? You will need to carry your insurance card to verify you have insurnace. Your tour contract acts as proof that you have permission to drive the car.

Restrictions on areas, cars, age

In what area may I drive the car? The car may be used only on the roads listed as part of the approved course in the Tour Guide. Furthermore, all participants must agree that they will not use the vehicle for off-roading, racetrack, or any illegal purpose.
